Cong MLAs Urge Centre to Decide on Telangana
Hyderabad | Feb 25, 2011
Congress MLAs and MLCs from non- Telangana regions today decided to urge the Centre to take an appropriate decision on the Sri Krishna committee suggestions on the Telangana issue.

In the wake of some Congress MLAs from Telangana raising the separate statehood in the assembly today, Congress MLAs and MLCs from coastal Andhra and Rayalaseema held a meeting today.

All-round development of the state and the welfare of backward classes is best served in the state remaining united, they said.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Primary Education Minister S Sailajanath said Congress legislators from non- Telangana regions would like to urge the Centre to take appropriate decision on the Sri Krishna committee report.

About 15 MLAs of the ruling Congress from Telangana joined their TRS and TDP colleagues in disrupting proceedings of Andhra Pradesh Assembly today on the separate statehood issue.

This forced Deputy Speaker Nadendla Manohar to adjourn the House for the day without transacting any business after two earlier adjournments.
